The inaugural match of the late M K Anwar Memorial Football Tournament was held in Homna.

The inaugural match of the late former BNP Minister M.K. Anwar Sir Memorial Double Fridge Football Tournament has been held in Homna, Comilla. The tournament was inaugurated in a festive manner by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Khemalika Chakma on Friday afternoon (October 10) at the Homna Adarsha High School field. Presided over by former Homna Upazila Parishad Chairman Advocate Azizur Rahman Mollah, the event was attended by former Upazila Chairman Zahirul Haque Johar, former Meghna Upazila BNP President Md. Romiz Uddin Londoni, Homna Press Club President Md. Abdul Haque Sarkar, Marine Chief Engineer Md. Golam Faruq, and Tutul Rohan, son of the late Harun Sahib. Homna Dadan Sir Academy and Daudkandi Municipality team participated in the opening match. Dadan Sir Academy defeated Daudkandi Municipality by 5-0 goals. Thousands of spectators enjoyed the match. The match was conducted by Md. Safiqul Islam Munna, and the commentator was poet Delowar. It is known that the tournament has been organized with 8 teams.
