A magnitude 5.7 earthquake, felt in Bangladesh and various parts of the country, has caused cracks in houses in various areas of Burichang Upazila, Comilla. Local residents rushed out of their homes in panic when the tremors suddenly started. This earthquake, which lasted for about 26 seconds around 10:37 AM on Friday, caused cracks in the walls, floors, and foundations of tin-shed, semi-pucca, and pucca houses in Burichang Sadar and other unions. Locals reported that in some places, tin roofs shook and items inside houses moved.

A resident of Sadar Municipality, Joyedul Hossain, said, "As soon as the earthquake started suddenly, we went outside with our families. Later, we heard that many houses in the surrounding areas had developed cracks." Local residents mentioned that they heard a loud noise before the earthquake. Shortly after, the entire house shook. Many initially thought an explosion had occurred nearby. They later confirmed that the earthquake was felt across the country.

The Burichang Upazila Administration stated that the process of collecting field-level information to assess the extent of the damage has begun. Preliminary work on creating a list of the affected is underway.
