The voice of protest fell silent by the bullet: Osman Hadi's lifeless body is returning home.
Daily Bijoy News Dhaka Correspondent:
Sharif Osman Hadi. He was determined to stand against injustice and malpractice as a public representative. But that journey was halted by a single bullet. The spokesman of the Inquilab stage, Osman Hadi, is finally returning to the country in a lifeless body, after a continuous seven-day battle with death in local and foreign hospitals. His coffin, draped in red and green, seems to carry some unfinished dreams and promises. However, he has left behind a unique example of courage, protest, and rebellion. On Friday (December 19) afternoon, a post containing a picture of his coffin-bound body was shared on Osman Hadi's verified Facebook page. It read, 'I did not become so fat by eating haram that I would need a special coffin! In a very ordinary coffin, with the smiling face of Halal blood, I will appear before my Allah.' Osman Hadi, one of the faces of the July movement, had made this comment before being shot.
The body of Osman Hadi, who died while undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital, is scheduled to arrive in the country in the evening Bangladesh time. The flight carrying the body is scheduled to depart from Singapore at 3:50 PM local time for Dhaka. It is scheduled to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 6:05 PM. Relevant sources said he will be buried after his Janaza on Saturday. Osman Hadi campaigned as an independent candidate in the Dhaka-8 constituency. On December 12, after Jumma prayers, he was seriously injured by gunshots fired by miscreants on Box Culvert Road in Purana Paltan, Dhaka. He was first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, and after his condition deteriorated, he was admitted to Evercare Hospital. For better treatment, he was taken to Singapore General Hospital by air ambulance on December 15. It was there on Thursday (December 18) that he breathed his last while undergoing treatment.
