At 4:30 PM on December 18th, a special patrol team led by Subedar Md. Tohrul Islam, the Patrol Commander of Shimultala BOP, conducted a special operation approximately 1 km inside Bangladesh from border pillar 260 MP in the Rospur area of Dhamoirhat Upazila, Naogaon district. During the operation, BGB members managed to apprehend two drug smugglers along with 22 pieces of the Indian narcotic Tapentadol tablets and a motorcycle. The arrested individuals are: Shri Kartik (18), father: Shri Swapan Roy, village: Shekhahati, post office: Birgram; and Suphal Roy (22), father: Shri Baidyanath, village: Tugahat, post office: Agradigun. Both are residents of the Dhamoirhat Police Station area and are from Naogaon district. The approximate seizure value of the recovered narcotics and items is Tk 1,91,400 (One Lakh Ninety-One Thousand Four Hundred). A case has been filed at Dhamoirhat Police Station with the recovered items and the accused have been handed over to the police station for taking legal action against them. Regarding this matter, Lieutenant Colonel Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, PSC, the Commanding Officer of Patnitala Battalion (14 BGB), stated that operations have been intensified to prevent all types of smuggling activities including cattle smuggling, drug trafficking, and illegal border crossing in the Naogaon and Joypurhat border areas, and that these operations will continue in the future as well.
