A Dhaka court on Thursday placed Anisul Huq, the former law minister, and Salman F Rahman, the former private industry affairs adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, on a fresh five-day remand in connection with a murder case. The case pertains to the death of Suman Sikdar, 31, who died in Dhaka's Badda during quota protests on July 19.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Nurul Huda Chowdhury issued the remand order around 7:00 a.m. after police presented the two before the court, requesting a 10-day remand, according to a sub-inspector working in the court who spoke to The Daily Star. On August 20, Masuma, the victim’s mother, filed the murder case with Badda Police Station against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 179 others.
