Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today encouraged citizens to file their income tax returns online. In a video message, he stated, "Dear countrymen, I want to emphasize the importance of income tax. The taxes you pay are vital for driving our economy, but I understand the challenges involved in the process."

He announced that there’s no longer a need to endure long lines at banks or visit tax offices to pay taxes. "You can now submit your income tax return from the comfort of your home. This new measure is mandatory for all government officials in Dhaka, Narayanganj, and Gazipur, as well as employees of scheduled banks, mobile phone operators, and many multinational companies," he explained.

Professor Yunus also called on all eligible citizens to embrace online tax filing. He encouraged friendly competition among organizations and firms to promote timely online submissions at district and city levels, with the opportunity to win state awards.

He urged everyone to assist their family, neighbors, and friends in navigating the online tax process. "I ask our youth to support taxpayers in this effort. This is an important step towards fostering future entrepreneurs," he added.

"I hope your experience with online tax filing becomes smooth and hassle-free from now on," he concluded.
