Awami League leader and chairman Mujib arrested along with 12,000 yaba pills in a Coast Guard operation in St. Martin

The Coast Guard has arrested Mujibur Rahman, the Union Parishad Chairman of St. Martin Island and President of the Union Awami League, in possession of 12,274 yaba pills in St. Martin, Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar.
Lieutenant Commander Md. Siam-ul-Haq, media officer at the Coast Guard Headquarters, shared the details with the media on Saturday morning (February 8).
According to intelligence reports, Mujibur Rahman (53), a resident of Paschim Para in Ward No. 5 of St. Martin Island under Teknaf Police Station, had stored a large quantity of yaba pills in his home for smuggling purposes. Acting on this information, the Bangladesh Coast Guard East Zone launched a special operation in St. Martin Island. Upon sensing the Coast Guard’s presence, Rahman attempted to flee through the back door of his house, but was apprehended. The Coast Guard later searched the house and discovered 12,274 yaba pills concealed in a hidden bag.
The process of transferring the arrested individual and the seized drugs to Teknaf Police Station for further legal action is currently underway. The Coast Guard has vowed to continue such operations to protect the youth from the dangers of drugs.
