A free breast and cervical cancer screening and discussion event was held at Pabna Sadar Hospital.

A free breast and cervical cancer screening program, along with a discussion and exchange of views, was held at Pabna Sadar Hospital. The event took place in the meeting room of Pabna Sadar Hospital on March 1st at 10:00 AM. The program, which included examinations and discussions on breast and cervical cancer, was organized by the Rotary Club of Pabna, the 250-bed General Hospital of Pabna, and BRAC Microfinance, with the support of the Gynecological Oncology Society of Bangladesh and the Rotary Club of Dhaka Save Life Foundation.
The chief guest at the event, Mahatab Uddin Biswas, founding president of Pabna District BNP, renowned educationist, social worker, chartered president of the Rotary Club of Pabna, former chairman of Pabna Sadar Upazila, MD of Mahatab Biswas Real Estate Limited, and chairman of the proposed Mast University, delivered a keynote speech. He stated that although cancer is a complex disease, it no longer seems as daunting due to advancements in testing and awareness campaigns. He advised women aged 30 to 60 to remain vigilant about these diseases. Mahatab Biswas praised the Rotary Club of Pabna for its various social and humanitarian activities, calling them truly commendable, and expressed his commitment to supporting the club's social initiatives.
Special guest Rotarian (Retd.) Major Khondakar Badrul Hasan, representative of the Rotary Club of Dhaka Save Life Foundation, highlighted that this project aims to provide screenings to 30 million people across the country. So far, services have reached 60,000 people nationwide. He added that in the future, NGOs operating in the country will be involved to further this cause.
The event was chaired by Rafiqul Hasan, Assistant Director of the 250-bed General Hospital in Pabna. He extended greetings to all attendees and emphasized the importance of raising awareness about cervical cancer, urging everyone to take the disease seriously. He mentioned that free cervical cancer screenings are available at the hospital and encouraged everyone to take advantage of this service.
Other special guests who spoke at the event included Dr. Tanmoy Prokash Biswas, former director of Pabna Mental Hospital, and Md. Mamunur Rashid, Assistant Superintendent of Arifpur Madrasa. Among others present were MA Khaleq Khan PVM-Seva, former director of Ansar-VDP Development Bank and advisor to the NGO TMSS, PP Rotarian Faridul Islam, PP Rotarian Khondakar Mbidur Rahman Setu, Rotarian SM Alauddin Parag, Rotarian Shafiqur Rahman Shant, Rotarian Ziaur Rahman Biswas Ziu, Rotarian Asaduzzaman Khokon, Rotarian Mizanur Rahman, BRAC Pabna representative Parul Das, hospital doctors, nurses, officials, staff, Interact members, patients from various areas, distinguished individuals, other members of the Rotary Club of Pabna, and media representatives.
Following the event, nearly a hundred patients underwent breast and cervical cancer screenings.
