A young man named Dolowar Hossain (35) died after falling from the seventh floor of the abandoned district Awami League office in Sarishabari, Naogaon, while attempting to steal. He was the son of late Mosir Uddin from Chakdebpara neighborhood in Naogaon city. His body was recovered from the empty elevator shaft of the office at around 2:30 PM on Sunday (May 4).

Nur-e Alam Siddiqui, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Naogaon Sadar Police Station, stated that preliminary investigations suggest the youth had climbed to the seventh floor of the building to steal elevator cables and metal railings. While attempting to steal, he accidentally fell and died on the spot. The body was recovered and sent to Naogaon General Hospital for autopsy.

Saiful Islam, a resident of the Sarishabari intersection near the Awami League office, mentioned that the seven-story building had been abandoned since August 5 last year, when the district Awami League party office was set on fire and vandalized following the fall of the Hasina government. Since then, the building has remained deserted, with no one usually entering it.

On Sunday around 2 PM, locals heard a noise and found a man lying in a pool of blood in the empty elevator space on the ground floor. Police and fire service personnel later rescued him.

Dr. Abu Zar Gaffar, Residential Medical Officer (RMO) at Naogaon General Hospital, said that when the patient was brought in, he had no pulse. An ECG confirmed his death, indicating that he had died before reaching the hospital.
