International Midwifery Day celebrated at TMSS Nursing College in Bogura

The International Midwifery Day was celebrated by TMSS Nursing College, a top-tier and internationally recognized private development organization established by the renowned women's organization leader, successful entrepreneur, and Professor Dr. Hosne Ara Begum, a pioneer in social change and women's development in the country. The event was organized under the health sector of TMSS.
The first part of the program featured a colorful rally starting at 9 AM from the Nursing College premises. The rally was led by TMSS's Executive Director, eminent educationist, and social worker Professor Dr. Hosne-Ara Begum. Other participants included TMSS Deputy Executive Director-2 Rotarian Dr. Matiur Rahman, TMC Principal, senior health sector officials, employees, TMSS Nursing College teachers and students, midwifery staff from TMSS Medical College and Rafatullah Community Hospital, and students and staff of the Diploma in Midwifery course at TMSS Nursing College.
The second part of the event, held at 10 AM in the gallery of TMSS Nursing College's new building, included a discussion session. Chaired by TNC Principal Rita Rani Pal, the session began with a welcome speech by the convener of the Midwifery Course Academic Council and senior teacher, Ms. Nagis Morshed. Among others, key speakers included TNC Assistant Professor Ms. Nilufar Yasmin, Superintendent Tahera Begum, TMCH & RCH Dr. Md. Shamsuzzaman, Assistant Director; Bogura District Family Planning Officer Dr. Salma Akter; Medical Officer-Clinic, Mother and Child Welfare Center; and TMSS Deputy Executive Director Dr. Md. Matiur Rahman.
As the chief guest, Bogura Family Planning Department's Deputy Director Prosanjit Pranay Mishra attended the event and delivered an important speech highlighting the significance of the day. He discussed various government initiatives, plans, and opportunities related to the midwifery profession.
International Midwifery Day is celebrated globally every year with a significant theme. This year's theme was "Midwives: Essential in Every Crisis." The current government has taken various steps to enhance the professional development of midwives, including higher education opportunities in public and private colleges and universities, as well as expanded employment prospects both domestically and internationally.
After the concluding speech by the TNC Principal, a cultural program was presented by midwifery students. Among the attendees were the Executive Director's Personal Secretary Md. Ferdous Rahman, all Nursing College teachers and students, department heads, professionals from various fields, senior TMSS officials, and media personnel. The event was conducted by the Executive Director's Administrative Personal Secretary Md. Abdul Hannan.
