Acting Chairman Md. Billal Sarkar Holds Press Conference Against False Propaganda in Shivpur, Narsingdi

Mohammad Billal Hossen, the acting chairman of Putia Union Parishad under Shivpur Upazila in Narsingdi, addressed a press conference at the Putia Union Parishad field through a press release. In his statement, he said, "As the acting chairman of Putia Union Parishad, I, Mohammad Billal Hossen Sarkar, have been performing my duties with honesty and dedication. Recently, false rumors and misleading posts have been spread against me on various social media platforms with ulterior motives. Additionally, a human chain was staged in front of the District Administrator's office by some outsiders, conducted without any participation from local residents. I believe this propaganda and human chain are part of a planned conspiracy. This is an attempt to tarnish my personal and administrative reputation. In this context, on Monday, May 13, 2025, at noon, through this press conference, I strongly condemn and protest against such false, baseless, and fabricated propaganda and demand that the administration identify the culprits and take appropriate legal action."

He further added, "I am not a leader of any political party; I have never held any political position in the past nor do I now. My identity is that of a public servant. Instead of paying heed to falsehoods, support me in development work. I wish to spend the rest of my life serving you. I have never served the people under the shadow of any political leader. I serve the people within my personal capacity. I have never held any political position, neither in the past nor now. I show affection to the young and respect to the elders. I have acceptance in my area, which is why various political leaders contact me. I try to respect them, as I believe respecting people is my duty."

Present at the press conference were former Union Parishad member and prominent businessman Abdul Jalil Mollah, noted businessman and social worker Mohammad Bipul Mollah, along with men and women, and various political and social leaders. They stated in their speeches, "Billal Sarkar has been involved in various development activities since his childhood. He has been carrying out development work with his own funds and ensures fair and peaceful resolutions through village arbitration. Till today, he has never taken even a single penny from anyone. No poor person has ever returned empty-handed from him. Some miscreants, drug dealers, land grabbers, terrorists, thieves, robbers, and snatchers in the area are spreading false propaganda against acting chairman Billal Sarkar for their personal gains. We strongly condemn and protest against these rumor-mongers."

Female members of Putia Union Parishad—Fatema Akter (Wards 1,2,3), Shahajadi Sarkar (Wards 4,5,6), and Maleka Begum (Wards 7,8,9)—along with male members Md. Hannan Mia (Ward 1), Md. Rubel Mia (Ward 3), Md. Ershad Mia (Ward 4), Abul Bashar Mia (Ward 5), Md. Roman Pathan (Ward 7), Md. Ratan Mia (Ward 8), Md. Amir Hossain (Ward 9), Abdur Rahim Mia, Md. Salauddin Sarkar, and other leaders were present at the event.

The members of Putia Union Parishad said, "In the past, we had no information about development activities, and even if we inquired, we faced problems. Since acting chairman Md. Billal Hossen Sarkar took charge, we have been able to properly and fairly complete all development activities. We strongly condemn the false propaganda." Nearly a thousand people, including men and women, were present at the press conference.
