In Jagatnagar, Badalgachhi, Naogaon, an attempted robbery results in the death of a robber named Asadul in a mob beating.

A robber named Ashadul Islam (42) was killed in a mob beating while attempting to rob the house of a scrap metal trader in Gobor Chapa Jagatnagar village, Mathurapur Union, Badalgachhi Upazila, Naogaon. The enraged mob severely beat the robber and cut the tendons in his legs, leading to his death from excessive blood loss while undergoing treatment. In this incident, three members of the scrap metal trader Alamin Hossain's (26) family, including Alamin, were seriously injured.
The event occurred in the early hours of Saturday, October 11th, in Jagatnagar village near Gobor Chapa College, Mathurapur Union, Badalgachhi Upazila, Naogaon. The deceased robber, Ashadul Islam alias Rafiqul, was the son of the late Abdul Mondal alias Vhadur from Kola Union, Badalgachhi Upazila. The injured are Ayesha (50), wife of Nazrul of Jagatnagar village, her son, scrap metal trader Asadul (30), and Alamin (26). It is known that Ayesha's condition is critical.
According to local and police sources, a gang of 5-6 people, including Ashadul, went to rob the house of scrap metal trader Alamin Hossain in Jagatnagar village. They entered the house by removing a tin sheet and began assaulting Alamin. A noise from the tin occurred as they tried to tie him up. Family members noticed the commotion and tried to apprehend the robbers. A fight broke out between both sides. While the others managed to escape, Ashadul was caught by the local mob and severely beaten. They then tied his hands and feet and cut the tendons in both his legs.
Upon receiving the news, a team from Badalgachhi Police Station visited the spot and rescued the critically injured Ashadul. He was first admitted to Badalgachhi Health Complex. As his condition deteriorated, he was referred to the 250-bed Naogaon General Hospital for better treatment, where the duty doctor declared him dead.
Businessman Alamin said, "We had eaten and gone to sleep at night. While sleeping, the robbers assaulted me and tried to tie my hands and feet. At that time, when my family members found out, a fight started with the robbers. As other family members shouted, villagers came forward and one robber was caught. The locals handed him over to the police in an injured condition."
Alamin's wife, Brishti Akter, said, "My husband, mother-in-law, and brother-in-law – all three are injured. They are now undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital."
Locals said, "Such an incident has never happened here before. They have been in the scrap metal business for a long time. This past Thursday, Alamin and his family sold a truckload of goods. It seems the robbers came to know about this. Essentially, this gang came to steal the money from the sale of the scrap." They further added, "We demand exemplary punishment for the others involved in this robbery."
Regarding this matter, Badalgachhi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Anisur Rahman confirmed the incident and said, "Efforts to arrest all the accused are ongoing. The incident primarily occurred during an attempt to loot the money from the scrap metal sale. The legal process for the case is underway."
