A press release has been issued seeking public assistance by providing information to the district detective police to arrest fugitive accused Emdadul Haque, leading to the recovery of 5 kg of cannabis in an anti-drug operation by detective police at a location called Dahapara Bhanga Moor in Shibganj Upazila, Bogura district.

Sources from the Shibganj police station case and the press release indicate that on the 14th of October, based on secret information, a tactical team of detective police conducted a raid at the said location upon receiving news that a consignment of drugs was being transported, aiming to arrest two drug dealers. While they managed to arrest identified drug dealer Belal Akand from Baoraipara village, Syedpur Union, with 5 kg of cannabis, the other individual, Emdadul Haque, son of Ishak Ali from Singa Karigar Para village, Kochashohor Union, who is the Health Affairs Secretary of the Upazila Fishermen's Team and a member of the Kochashohor Union Juba Dal, managed to flee.

Following this incident, a police force led by SI Swapan Mia, SI Sanjay Kumar Chowdhury, and SI Golam Kibria of the district detective police conducted the operation, recovered the 5 kg of cannabis, and filed a case against the two drug dealers at Shibganj Police Station (Case No. 20, dated October 14, 2025). Meanwhile, while the arrested accused has been sent to jail, drug dealer Emdadul Haque remains at large. A press release was issued yesterday seeking assistance from the public to provide information to the district detective police to arrest him.

The press release also stated that fugitive accused Emdadul Haque already has a previous case against him from 2018 under sections 19(a)/36(1) of the Narcotics Control Act.

Conscious circles in Kochashohor Union report that Emdadul Haque is not just a drug dealer but a "drug lord." They allege he has long been using his party affiliations and positions to conduct his drug business. It is claimed that beyond his local area, he has sent illegal drug consignations to various parts of the country and amassed illicit wealth. Leaders of the union BNP and its associate organizations have demanded that the party take immediate organizational action against drug dealer Emdadul to protect the party's image.
