Increased police alertness and intensified vehicle searches on the highway in Burichang.

Due to the declared 'lockdown' program of the Awami League, police have been on high alert since Thursday morning on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Burichang Upazila, Comilla. Since morning, under the leadership of Burichang Thana's Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Azizul Haque, strict surveillance by the law enforcement agencies was observed across the entire area. Specifically, police were seen taking positions at various intersections, bus stands, bridges, and important entry points along the highway, starting from the Korapai area of Mokam Union to the Nazira Bazar of Moynamoti Union. Checkposts were set up at every intersection, where searches are being conducted on passenger buses, trucks, microbus, motorcycles, and other suspicious vehicles. Additionally, RAB, DB, and police in plain clothes are patrolling the entire stretch of the road.
During the search operation that lasted from morning until noon, members of RAB were seen participating alongside the police. They are checking passengers' identification documents and inspecting their bags and luggage. Some suspicious motorcycle riders and individuals were stopped and questioned. The law enforcement agencies stated that these search measures and the operation have been taken with the aim of preventing any kind of untoward incidents, sabotage, or conflict. OC Mohammad Azizul Haque said, "We are on maximum alert to ensure road and public security. Strict action will be taken if anyone tries to create chaos or obstruct vehicular movement."
Alongside police, teams from RAB and DB are also on the ground. Surveillance has been intensified through CC cameras in important areas. Simultaneously, personnel in plain clothes have also taken strategic positions so that immediate action can be taken in any situation. The police administration has urged the general public to behave responsibly. They stated, "Security on the highway and surrounding areas has been strengthened solely for the safety of the people. Please remain calm and do not pay heed to rumors."
