Daily Bijoy News Naogaon Correspondent:
An obstetrician in Naogaon was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College (Ramek) Hospital for advanced treatment after excessive bleeding during caesarean section and after being stitched up with gauze on her abdomen. Sumi Khatun (35), a pregnant woman, died on Tuesday (May 28) around 6 am after being under intensive care in the ICU twice. Sumi's family and village are in mourning after hearing the news of her death. Housewife Sumi's family cannot accept such a death. The family and neighboring relatives have demanded justice for the accused doctor and clinic owner. On May 20, when news was published in the media under the title of 'Gauge placed on stomach, in ICU', the district health department was shocked. An inquiry committee has been constituted but the report has not been submitted yet. Meanwhile, Sumi left for the land of no return. According to Sumi's family and clinic sources, when labor pains started on the morning of May 15, the woman in labor was taken to Ekta Clinic located in Hospital Road area of Naogaon city. On the same day, an obstetrics and gynecology specialist, Dr. Tania Rahman, performed a caesarean section there. Dr. Adnan Farooq, anesthesiologist at Naogaon Sadar Hospital, Dr. Tania's husband, administered general anesthesia for the caesarean section. Immediately after the cesarean, Sumi experienced severe pain in her abdomen and started bleeding profusely. Doctor Tanya, marketing officer of the clinic, Abdur Rauf, quickly stitched the patient's stomach. After that, Sumi was sent to Ramek Hospital around 10 pm. After being taken to the hospital at night, it was found that there was something extra in Sumi's stomach. Along with this, excessive bleeding occurred and for that he was operated again on the following Thursday morning with the consent of the family. After 13 days, Sumi died on Tuesday morning. Sannasbari village of Atrai upazila of the district is in mourning for Sumi's death. Even the local neighbors cannot accept the death of Sumi. Local neighbors Farzana Khatun and Khaled Bin Feroz said that she was admitted for a cesarean after stomach pain. The doctor approaches the patient in the clinic with trust and confidence. But a new life has sprung forth. How does cesarean cause maternal death? There must have been a wrong operation or wrong treatment. Otherwise, why was he referred to Rajshahi from Naogaon for better treatment. How many more people will die due to wrong treatment. Sometimes we hear of patient deaths due to wrong treatment in Naogaon. Let these doctors and clinic owners be brought to justice quickly. Sumi Khatun's aunt Fahima Begum said, "My niece was killed by wrong treatment." What will happen to the three children now? The newborn child lost his mother after seeing the light of the world. Sumi died due to wrong caesarean. We want severe punishment for all those involved. Sumir Khatun's mother Rahima Begum Begum said the accused tried to cover up the incident by offering money through their people. We did not agree to that.
