MPhil and PhD Research Students of Rajshahi University Visit TMSS Activities

A team of researchers undergoing training at Rajshahi University visited various activities conducted under the renowned private development organization TMSS, established by Bogura’s distinguished daughter, a pioneer in social change and women’s development, eminent educationist, social worker, and Director of Ansar-VDP Development Bank, Professor Dr. Hosne Ara Begum. The team, consisting of MPhil and PhD fellows from Rajshahi University’s Institute of Business Studies (IBS), visited TMSS’s activities on Wednesday at the Rural Development Academy in Bogura. Upon their arrival at the TMSS office in Bogura, they were warmly welcomed by the organization’s founder and Executive Director, Professor Dr. Hosne Ara Begum. A discussion and exchange of views were held on this occasion.

In her welcome speech, Professor Dr. Hosne Ara Begum greeted the attendees and provided an overview of TMSS’s various social and humanitarian activities, offering valuable insights and guidance. Among the speakers at the event were Professor Dr. Zakir Hossain, Principal of TMSS Medical College, and Rotarian Dr. Md. Matiur Rahman, Deputy Executive Director-2 of TMSS. Dr. Matiur Rahman highlighted that TMSS Medical College, under the health sector, is recognized as one of the top private medical colleges among the 67 private medical colleges in the country. He added that the college operates a 1,000-bed general hospital and a 250-bed cancer treatment center. The hospital has expanded its advanced services, successfully performing two angiogram procedures in its cath lab. He emphasized that TMSS operates various social and humanitarian activities across the country with a service-oriented mindset, not for profit. He also shared plans to extend the organization’s grassroots social initiatives to a larger population.

Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. Md. Jamirur Rahman, Director of TMSS Medical College Hospital, stated that TMSS-run hospitals, along with its planned kidney center, maternity specialized hospital, autism treatment center, and rehabilitation center, are benefiting countless people across the country. The visiting team expressed satisfaction after inspecting TMSS Medical College, Rafatullah Community Hospital, and other TMSS activities. They praised TMSS for its health services during the COVID-19 pandemic and its extensive social and humanitarian efforts. They described TMSS’s nationwide initiatives as truly commendable and urged the authorities to further accelerate and strengthen these activities. They also pledged their full support to TMSS’s noble endeavors from their respective positions.

The discussion was attended by heads of various departments, teachers, officials, Assistant Director Shafi Parvez, and other senior officials of TMSS Medical College. Later, the team visited TMSS-run autism and disability schools, rehabilitation centers, and various health and education programs. Professor Dr. Hosne Ara Begum, on behalf of TMSS, extended heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to the visiting team for their inspection. The team expressed satisfaction with all TMSS activities. Also present during the visit were the Executive Director’s Personal Secretary, Sarwar Md. Ferdous Rahman, and Personal Secretary (Administration), Md. Abdul Hannan, among others.
