Tragic Death of a Child After Falling Into a Ditch in Naikhongchhari!

A tragic incident occurred in Meherpur village of Sadar Union in Naikhongchhari Upazila, Bandarban, where a four-year-old child named Md. Takrim died after falling into a ditch while playing. The accident took place on Tuesday (May 13) at around 3:45 PM.

It has been learned that the deceased child, Takrim, was the son of Abdul Gafur and Selina Akter, residents of Meherpur area. Like any other day, he had gone out to play. While playing, he accidentally fell into a ditch near his house. Locals quickly realized the incident and rushed to rescue him, attempting to take him to the hospital, but he had already passed away by then.

Regarding the incident, Md. Mahbub Elahi, the administrator of Naikhongchhari Sadar Union, said, "We are deeply saddened by such a tragic death. We urge the locals to be cautious and cover risky water bodies or create safety barriers."

An official in charge of the 34 BGB Chakdhala BOP stated, "Upon receiving the news, we immediately went to the scene. Local sources confirmed that the child accidentally fell into the ditch while playing."

Md. Masrurul Haque, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Naikhongchhari Police Station, said, "The child's death is being treated as an unnatural death initially. Since the family has not filed any complaint and has requested burial without an autopsy, necessary procedures are being followed."

The child's death has cast a shadow of grief over the area. Relatives and neighbors have stood by the family in this difficult time.
