The Coast Guard has detained three yaba traffickers in Tulatoli, Teknaf—a bordering upazila of Cox's Bazar—along with one 9mm foreign pistol, four rounds of fresh ammunition, and 30,000 yaba pills. The arrested traffickers are Md. Ilias (30), Nur Mohammad (61), and Abdul Shakkur (40), all residents of the Kutupalong Rohingya Camp.

Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Harun-Or-Rashid provided this information on Monday morning (May 19). He stated that based on a secret tip-off, the Coast Guard outpost at Shahpari conducted a special operation in the Tulatoli Ghat area around 2:30 AM on Monday. During the operation, when the Coast Guard signaled a suspicious wooden engine boat to stop, the traffickers noticed their presence, accelerated the boat, and attempted to flee while firing shots. In response, Coast Guard members retaliated in self-defense, resulting in a gunfight between both sides, during which Abdul Shakkur (40) was shot and injured.

Later, the Coast Guard's operational team chased the boat for an hour and successfully seized it. A search of the boat led to the arrest of three drug traffickers, along with the recovery of one 9mm foreign pistol, four rounds of fresh ammunition, and 30,000 yaba pills. However, four other traffickers jumped into the sea and managed to escape. The injured yaba trafficker was later sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for treatment by the Coast Guard.

The officer further mentioned that legal proceedings regarding the seized items and the detained yaba traffickers are currently underway.
