UP Member Md. Mozammel Member of Char Bestin area, Char Montaz Union, Rangabali Upazila, Patuakhali district, held a press conference to protest a false case filed against him. The press conference was held at the Galachipa Upazila Television Journalists Forum office on Saturday (November 1st) at 10:00 PM.

Reading from a written statement, Md. Mozammel Member said, "I am Md. Mozammel Member, son of Md. Samsul Alam, resident of Char Bestin, Union Char Montaz. I have been living with a good reputation among the local people for many years and have been elected as a UP member twice by public vote. My father and Md. Nazrul Munshi, the President of Char Montaz Union BNP, contested for the Chairman post from the same party. Following that election, a certain quarter has been engaged in various conspiracies to tarnish my social reputation."

He further alleged that after August 5th, various chars, canals, and government forest gardens in the union were illegally sold for money. An influential group became angry with him for protesting these irregularities and corruption. Subsequently, to discredit him, along with attacks, a planned false case was filed against him.

Member Mozammel stated that a baseless and motivated case has been filed against him by using a person named Md. Firoz Dakuya (father: Moslem Dakuya) from Kholagashia village, Rangabali. At the press conference, he appealed to the concerned administration for a proper investigation of the incident and justice, and demanded the withdrawal of the false case.

He said, "I am an elected public representative and a servant of the common people. The case filed against me is completely false and a manifestation of political vengeance. I have faith in the law and administration—I believe truth will surely prevail."
