Cumilla District Detective Branch (DB) Police has arrested Alhaj Abu Taher (60), Chairman of Pir Jatrapur Union Parishad of Burichang Upazila in Cumilla and Senior Vice President of the prohibited activities committee of Burichang Upazila Awami League. The matter was confirmed on Saturday (December 20) around 2 PM by Cumilla District Detective Branch (DB) In-charge Officer (OC) Abdus Salam. DB Police sources said he was arrested from the Araiara area of Cumilla Sadar on Friday night. The arrested Abu Taher is the son of the late Abdul Majid of Pir Jatrapur Union, Burichang Upazila. Regarding this, Cumilla District Detective Branch In-charge OC Abdus Salam said, Abu Taher was arrested on Friday night. There are allegations against him. Legal proceedings are currently ongoing. Details will be provided after the investigation is completed. The incident has created a stir in the area. Police said he will be handed over to the court after the legal process is completed.
