"2 killed and 2 injured in road accidents in Sapahar and Mahadevpur of Naogaon"

On Saturday (May 3) at noon, a youth lost control of his motorcycle in Sapahar Upazila, leaving two people injured. Meanwhile, in Mohadevpur Upazila, a cyclist was crushed under the wheels of a drum truck and died.

The deceased have been identified as Farhad Hossain (20), son of Sayem Ali from Madhuil Alia Madrasa Para area in Patnitala Upazila, and Atoar Hossain (45), son of Shafi Mondal from Shukna Gopalpur village in Mohadevpur Upazila.

According to local sources and Sapahar Police Station, Farhad and two of his friends rented a motorcycle from Sapahar Zero Point to visit Jaboai Bill. On their way, the motorcycle, speeding excessively, lost control and crashed into a tree near Syedpur on the Manikura-Jaboai Bill regional road.

All three riders were thrown onto the road. Farhad died on the spot, while his friends Rifat and Shishir were injured. Locals rescued them and admitted them to the Upazila Health Complex. Due to their critical condition, doctors referred them to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

Sapahar Police Station OC Abdul Aziz said police were sent to the scene and recovered the body. As the family did not file any complaint, the body was handed over to them.

Meanwhile, in Mohadevpur, OC Shaheen Reza, citing locals, said Saturday was a market day. The victim, Atoar, was returning home by bicycle after work when a drum truck heading towards Mataji hit him from behind near Natashal Nabinagar Madrasa. He was crushed under the wheels and died instantly.

Villagers chased and caught the fleeing truck and driver. Police later recovered the body, which will be handed over to the family after legal procedures.
