Press Conference Held in Protest of News Report Published in Rajshahi's Paba
Daily Bijoy News, Rajshahi Correspondent:
A press conference was held to protest against what was described as a "false and misleading news report" published under the headline "Fraud in the name of Jannatun Ferdous Women's Hafizia Madrasa, Lillah Boarding, and Orphanage located in Ita Ghat village of Borganchi Union, Paba Upazila, Rajshahi" in the national daily Samakal and various online news portals on April 26, 2025.
The press conference took place on Sunday, May 4, in the afternoon at an office in Mohanpur Upazila. Raju Ahmed, the director and chairman of the accused institution, read out a written statement, saying:
*"With honesty and personal initiative, and with the support of local residents, Jannatun Ferdous Women's Hafizia Madrasa, Lillah Boarding, and Orphanage was established to serve society. However, some people have become envious of this effort. As part of this conspiracy, a false, fabricated, and baseless news report was published against me on April 26 by Manab Zamin correspondent Aporup Das and his associates, based on made-up information. A human chain was also formed in protest."*
He further stated, "I hope that such a renowned newspaper and news portal will be more cautious in publishing news in the future."
Among those present at the press conference were the madrasa's principal, Hafez Maulana Md. Omar Faruq, as well as local residents, including Sirajul Islam, Siraj Uddin Sarkar, Khondokar Mahbub Alam, and Tofiz Ahmed.
