Three Arrested with Pistol and Local Weapons in Successful Army-Police Operation in Kalia, Narail

In a joint operation by the army and police in Kolabaria village of Kalia upazila, Narail, a pistol, bullets, and a large quantity of locally made weapons were recovered. Three individuals were arrested during the raid conducted late Saturday night. During the operation, one suspect managed to flee and has been identified by law enforcement.

Ujjal Roy, the district correspondent from Narail, reports that according to intelligence sources, tensions between several groups in the Kolabaria area had recently escalated. To control the situation and prevent the stockpiling of illegal arms, the operation was carried out as per a pre-planned strategy.

The operation began at 2:30 AM on Saturday and continued until 7:30 AM, lasting five hours. Teams from the Kalia Army Camp, a unit from the Narail Sadar Army Camp, and a police squad participated in the raid. Several houses in the area were searched during the operation.

The seized items include:

  • One foreign-made pistol

  • Two bullets

  • Ten ramdas (local cleavers)

  • Two senidas (local weapons)

  • Three Chinese axes

  • Seven cha pati (locally made sharp weapons)

  • Five teta (another type of local weapon)

  • One spear

The arrested individuals are:

  1. Zahidul (50), son of Jalil Sheikh

  2. Zulfikar (45), son of Habibur Rahman

  3. Shahabulddin (40), son of Mokbul Sheikh

Additionally, a man named Mahbub, who fled during the raid, has been identified as a suspect. The detainees have been taken into police custody for interrogation, and preparations are underway to file a case against them under the Arms Act. Sources confirm that efforts to capture Mahbub are ongoing.

Following the operation, army and police patrols have been increased in the area. Locals claim that certain individuals had been conducting armed drills and moving around with weapons for a long time. They expressed relief after the operation.

Security forces have assured that regular operations will continue to ensure public safety and prevent conflicts. They emphasized that those creating unrest in society will not be spared under any circumstances.
