A 16-year-old SSC examinee named Rajan Shikdar died while trying to stop a clash between two groups in Alinagar, a char (riverine) area of Raipura, Narsingdi. He passed away on Friday (May 2) at noon while undergoing treatment in the ICU of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

The deceased, Rajan, was the son of Fazlu Mia from Alinagar area of Paratali Union and was an SSC candidate at Sayedabad High School.

It has been learned that on April 27, after finishing his SSC exams, Rajan was playing carrom with classmates at Alinagar Bazar intersection in the afternoon. At that time, an altercation broke out between an autorickshaw driver from Banshgarhi area and Jahangir of Madhyanagar along with his associates. Rajan and other locals stepped in to stop the fight and later safely escorted the autorickshaw driver home.

Later that evening, Jahangir and his followers attacked a shop in Alinagar with a group of men. Rajan was brutally beaten with bamboo sticks during the assault. Severely injured, he was first treated at a local health complex and then taken to Dhaka. After undergoing surgery on Thursday, he was moved to the ICU, where he died on Friday.

The victim’s brother, Russel Mia, told reporters, "That day, they also attacked my mobile financial service (bKash) shop. They vandalized it and looted cash. They mercilessly beat my brother Rajan, leaving him critically injured."

The accused, Jahangir, and his associates are currently in hiding. Attempts to contact them were unsuccessful.

Raipura Police Station’s Investigation Officer, Probir Kumar Ghosh, said, "We have received news of the death of an SSC examinee. I don’t know the details yet. The victim’s family has contacted the police station to file a complaint."
