A protest march and rally were held in Thakurgaon to denounce Baul artist Abul Sarkar's derogatory remarks about the Holy Quran and Almighty Allah. The protest march began at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, November 27th, from the Medel Mosque premises in Thakurgaon, led by members of the Imam Olama Parishad. The march proceeded through the main streets of the city and concluded at Thakurgaon Chowrasta. Throughout the march, the participants chanted various protest slogans. Speaking at the concluding rally held at Chowrasta, the speakers stated, "The derogatory comments made by Baul Abul Sarkar about Almighty Allah are in no way acceptable. We demand his exemplary punishment and the execution of the death sentence, so that no one dares to disrespect religion in the future." The speakers further added, "It is extremely regrettable and tantamount to hurting the sentiments of religious people that some leaders from various political parties are speaking in support of the Bauls." Tension was observed in the area surrounding this protest march by the Imam Olama Parishad, but the overall situation remained peaceful.
