Daily Bijoy News correspondent:
Major General Abdul Motalib Sazzad Mahmud, SGP, BAM, NDU, AFWC, PSC, Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Force, commented that if children with special needs are ensured proper care, opportunities, and training, they will become the future strength of the country. He made these remarks as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of a solo art exhibition by Afif Alvi, the art teacher of PRAYAS School located in Dhaka Cantonment. The opening event was held on Thursday, December 5th, at the Palette Gallery on Jasim Uddin Avenue in Uttara, Dhaka.
The diverse artworks featured in the exhibition portray humanitarian sensitivity, the subtle beauty of nature, and various expressions of contemporary society. The bold use of color, strong brushstrokes, and emotive presentation deeply moved the audience.
The Director General said, "Children with special needs are a cornerstone of our potential. If we can ensure quality education and appropriate training, they will play a significant role in the nation's progress as skilled human resources. Only the collective support of society can awaken their inherent strength." At this time, he mentioned Ansar's much-anticipated "Sanjiban Project," stating that this project will play a more effective role in developing the skills of emerging artists like Alvi as a well-structured platform for talent development at the rural and grassroots levels. He added that the Sanjiban initiative will enhance the capabilities of children with special needs and ensure opportunities for equal progress in society.
Among those present as special guests at the event were Masrur Arefin, Managing Director & CEO of The City Bank; Colonel Md. Altaf Ali, PSC, Executive Director & Principal of PRAYAS School; and President of Bexar, Md. Golam Rabbani. Their participation added further color to the event.
This exhibition is not only a recognition of Afif Alvi's artistic journey but has also opened new horizons of inspiration for developing the creative potential of young artists with special needs.
