GTA could see thunderstorms and even toonie-sized hail early this week

Environment Canada says that Toronto and the GTA are facing overnight thunderstorm risks until Tuesday. These storms may have strong gusts of wind, two to three centimetres of hail and 30 to 50 millimetres of rainfall, according to the weather agency. Wind gusts may reach up to 90 km/h and the hail could be up to the size of a toonie, Environment Canada added. Isolated thunderstorms will reportedly impact people across southern, north east, east, and central Ontario.

Sunday night will be partly cloudy with a few showers with a risk of thunderstorms overnight. There will be easterly wind up to 20 km/h with a high of 17 C. Monday morning will cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of showers and a high of 23 C. There will be risks of more thunderstorms with an estimated 10 to 15 millimetres of rain. The night will be cloudy, also with a 40 per cent chance of showers and more risks of thunderstorms in the early evening. Temperatures are expected to drop to 14 C. Tuesday will be cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of showers and a high of 20 C. Night time will be cloudy and see temperatures drop to 10 C.
