Asif Nazrul: False Cases Filed Under Cyber Security Act Will Be Withdrawn

Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul announced that all false and harassing cases filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act and the Cyber Security Act will be promptly withdrawn.

The announcement came after a meeting with ministry officials on Saturday, where five key decisions were made:

  1. Immediate action will be taken to bring to justice those involved in the killings that occurred during the suppression of student movements in July and August.

  2. Criminal cases filed against participants of the student movements between July 1 and August 5, 2024, will be withdrawn within the next three working days.

  3. Efforts will be made to release children and adolescents detained under false and harassing charges within the next three working days.

  4. All false and harassing cases filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act and the Cyber Security Act will be withdrawn.

  5. Victim support will be provided for those affected by false and harassing cases through the Law and Justice Department's support number 16430.
