BGB Conducts Raid on a House Near Teknaf Border, Arrests 2 with 69 Bombs and Bomb-Making Materials

In a special operation conducted at a dilapidated house in the Phuler Dale area of Hnila Union, Teknaf Upazila, Cox's Bazar, near the border, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has arrested two miscreants, Mohammad Samrat Prodhan (33) and Mohammad Antar (32), along with 69 hand bombs and a large quantity of bomb-making materials. On the night of February 16, 2025, the Teknaf Battalion of BGB (2 BGB) received confidential information that a group of miscreants was staying in an abandoned house in the Phuler Dale area of Hnila Union, under the jurisdiction of the battalion, with materials for making local bombs.

In response, around 3:00 AM, a skilled operational team of BGB, led by the commander of the Teknaf Battalion, conducted a raid in the area, surrounding several dilapidated tin-shed houses. The BGB cordoned off the surrounding area with strict security measures. After an extensive search lasting nearly three hours, they recovered 69 hand bombs, 1.6 kg of sulfur, 1.3 kg of lala (a chemical), 31 jars of gunpowder, 220 grams of gunny cloth, and one pliers from a dilapidated house, and successfully arrested the two miscreants. Sensing the presence of BGB, two other individuals who were in the courtyard of the house managed to flee quickly.

The arrested individuals are Mohammad Samrat Prodhan (33), son of Nazrul Islam from Noburkandi village, Matlab Uttar Thana, Chandpur, and Mohammad Antar (32), son of Saiful Islam from South Garmora village, Narayanganj Port Thana. During interrogation, it was revealed that an organized gang has been making and supplying bombs on a contract basis to various parts of the country for a long time. It is suspected that these bombs were being made for use in establishing local dominance, terrorist activities, sabotage, and other criminal activities.

The arrested miscreants, along with the seized bombs and bomb-making materials, are being processed for a regular case and will be handed over to the Teknaf Model Police Station. Efforts are underway to arrest the fugitives, and the involvement of the house owner is also being investigated.

It is worth mentioning that the Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB) of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), under the Cox's Bazar Region and Ramu Sector, remains vigilant as an ever-watchful guardian, ensuring security along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border in the southernmost part of Bangladesh. In light of the current law and order situation in the country, BGB is firmly committed to preventing terrorism and sabotage in the border areas at any cost. As part of this ongoing effort, the Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB) has successfully conducted a special operation in the border area, arresting two individuals with hand bombs and a large quantity of bomb-making materials.

Lieutenant Colonel Ashikur Rahman, PSC, the commanding officer of Teknaf 2 BGB Battalion, confirmed the authenticity of the news and stated that since the area is dominated by Awami League supporters, it is suspected that the bombs were being made as part of a planned conspiracy against the current government. He added that if the arrested individuals are remanded for interrogation, the main mystery behind the conspiracy will be revealed. He also mentioned that the arrested individuals have been handed over to the Teknaf Model Police Station.
