Madrasa Superintendent Arrested in Thakurgaon on Charges of Raping 9-Year-Old Student

Rab has finally arrested the fugitive accused, Md. Abu Taleb, from Tongi, Gazipur, on charges of raping a 9-year-old madrasa student in Ruhia, Thakurgao district. According to the complaint, the victim is a student of a local women's madrasa. On the night of September 20, after dinner, she fell asleep in the classroom with other students. Around 12 midnight, the madrasa superintendent, Md. Abu Taleb, woke the child up and raped her in the kitchen.

The next day, the victim's mother filed a case under Section 9(1) of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, 2000, at Ruhia Police Station in Thakurgaon district. The case number is 04/25, dated 23/09/2024. The incident caused widespread outrage in the area and was published in various print and electronic media, including social media.

Later, a joint operational team of Rab-13, CPC-1, Dinajpur and Rab-1, CPC-2, Uttara began a shadow investigation into the incident. Following the operation, the fugitive accused Abu Taleb (37) was arrested on Monday (October 20) at 12:30 PM from in front of the Al Baraka Bus Counter under Tongi East Police Station in Gazipur Metropolitan City. The arrested Abu Taleb is the son of the late Darabar Ali from Felanpur village under Ruhia Police Station in Thakurgaon district. Rab stated that after preliminary interrogation following the arrest, the accused has been handed over to the police station for further legal action.
