In Belabo, Narsingdi, on Thursday afternoon, November 13, 2025, Belabo Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mir Mahbubur Rahman confirmed this information. The arrested individuals are: Mohammad Abdullah alias Omar Faruk (22), son of Nabi Hossen from Chaili village, Maungdaw police station, Maungdaw district, Myanmar. He is currently a resident of Rohingya Camp No. 13, Taanghali, Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar. The other two accomplices are: 1. Mohammad Abdullah (37), son of late Ahidullah, mother Mosammat Mahmuda Begum, address: Rajarbag, Belabo police station, Narsingdi district. 2. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Masum (45), son of Md. Majibur Rahman, mother Mosa. Latifa Begum, address: Rajarbag, Belabo police station, Narsingdi district.
It has been learned that the Rohingya youth came to the Belabo Upazila Election Office to apply for a National Identity Card (NID) by introducing himself as Abdullah Mia. In the application, he claimed to be a permanent resident of Rajarbag village, Amlabo Union, mentioning his father's name as Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Masum and his mother's name as Latifa Begum. At that time, he submitted various documents including a birth certificate, citizenship certificate, and chowkidari receipt. While verifying his documents, inconsistencies were found between his birth certificate in the application and his statements. As a result, the officials became suspicious, and during interrogation, the youth admitted to being a Rohingya.
Belabo Upazila Election Officer Atiqul Islam said, "We became suspicious after observing his statements and documents. Later, when we interrogated him, he admitted to being a Rohingya at one stage. He was then arrested and handed over to the police station."
Regarding this matter, Belabo Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mir Mahbubur Rahman said, "We have arrested three people, including a Rohingya youth who came to make a fake National Identity Card under the name Omar Faruk. A case has been filed under sections 18/23(2) of the National Identity Card Registration Act 2024 on behalf of the election officer, and they have been sent to court with a request for a 7-day remand."
